Olive Branch, Miss. (November 5, 2012) – Christian Griffith, a senior at Center Hill High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Griffith was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. He and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Griffith is an outstanding student who plans to major in biomedical engineering. He holds a 4.52 weighted grade point average, scored 34 on the ACT with perfect 36s on the science and math portions of the test and also received a perfect score of ‘5’ on the AP English Language and the AP U.S. History exams. Griffith is ranked fifth in the school’s class of 168 seniors.
Dedicated to a tough academic course load, Griffith also is a successful drummer and has been selected to the Music City Drum and Bugle Corps, University of Alabama Honor Band, Delta State University Honor Band, Mississippi Lions All State Band and the Macy’s Great American Marching Band. Griffith is section leader and treasurer of the Center Hill Band and is also a mentor and leader to other musicians.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators.
Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
